Veteran’s Build with Habitat for Humanity of the NC Sandhills: Community & Military coming together to help their own!

April 7th, 2015

The Home Depot Foundation recently agreed to fund two homes in Moore County, to be built by Habitat For Humanity. The catch – the two homes must be built for veterans. Habitat for Humanity of the NC Sandhills was able to find two veterans in need of housing, so breaking of ground and construction will begin on the two houses, Wednesday, April 15. One of the unique aspects of this build is rallying the military community and encouraging active duty soldiers, families, surviving families and veterans to come out, show their support, and help build these two houses for individuals who have sacrificed much in service to this country. If you belong to a military unit, are a veteran, or in any way associated with the military we are asking for your help – not only in getting the word out but also in your volunteering! Once the ground is broken on the two veteran houses, the next 4 weeks will be imperative to getting the houses set; this is when Habitat will need its most volunteers (April 15 – May 6).

Aaron Grider Foundation has reserved 10-15 volunteers spots on two different dates – Thursday, April 23 and Saturday, April 25. Again we need 10-15 folks each of those days to come out to the Habitat worksite and help with the Veteran’s Build. No building experience is necessary, just a willing heart and willing hands. All volunteers must be 18 years of age or older.

If you would like to volunteer with AGF on either April 23 or April 25, please contact Brittany at If you would like to bring a group or a few folks on a different day, please contact Terry Gaar at

We look forward to building alongside you for such a great cause!
